New s2k owner...
Hello Carolina Owners,
Hi I'm Stephen....aka smanders. I recently picked up a preowned s2k w/17k miles; black on black. I had an Eclipse GS-T before and did quite a bit of autocrossing, thscc; and some driving schools, Summit Point and VIR. I am anxious to get this car out on the track this year. I was so glad to hear there was such an active group in the area. I am new to the VTEC world and looking to learn a lot. My background was always in turbocharged 4 cylinders. I am also new to RWD as my Eclipse was only FWD. I can't wait to drift through the corners instead of plow. I used to get so frustrated autoxing because half the time I was trying to keep the wheels hooked up. Had I known I was going to fall in love with driving I would have purchased the AWD Eclipse originally.
I am however discouraged by VIR's decision to ban s2k w/ only the stock rollbars. I read the threads about possible rollbars that would not require too much interior damage. Does anybody have anymore information regarding available rollbars?
Thanks,
smanders

Welcome Stephen,
I'm sure your gonna notice a huge difference in handling compared to your Eclipse. Mugen makes a 5pt roll cage but it's $$$. King Motorsports http://www.kingmotorsports.com/products/mu...000/safety.html is the distributor for mugen products.
I was upset when VIR banned s2000's this past summer. I have not done any auto'xing but I was planning on taking a class this spring. Atlanta also offers some of the same schools though : Skip Barber, Bertil Roos, Car Guys, & Tracktime. It's worth looking into.

WELCOME!!! Great to have another owner on the board!
On a side note, I believe I remember reading (and hearing) that the Mugen roll cage is not accepted by VIR either. However, I also heard (just Monday night. . .that VIR may have settled down with this requirement. You may want to call and verify!
Keep on the lookout for the Carolina's Chapter's 1st MEET in February (the 23rd)!!!
