No Convertible for my better half
So as you all know, today the weather is perfect for open top driving. Blue sky, 60 degree sunny. So I asked my wife if she want to go get some lunch together on the S and she agreed. After we came back from the morning walk in the neighborhood we hop in to my S, lower the convertible top and slowly exist out of my neighborhood and looking forward to a leisure cruise around town and find a good place to eat. Knowing that my wife is very sensitive to road and wind noise, I even told her that I am going to take the local road so we don't have to go so fast on highway.
I, feeling grateful to her and that she would join me to one of my greatest enjoyment, decided to make this drive as enjoyable for her as for me, so I drove gently, no hot dogging, no Vtecing. I figured this is a time when we can look "cool" by cruising on my S with top down and make every one around us envy
But guess what, when we arrived to the first major interception, my wife put on her shade, a breathing mask, gloves, and then pull up a magazine she brought with her to cover her face. I asked her if everything is ok, she said everything is fine but she just didn't want to breath in the pollen and she didn't like the way sun is shinning right on her face (it's around 2pm) so she wear a mask and covered her face with a magazine. I then told her "Honey, you knew that we are going in a Convertible, and it's sunny out, what were you expecting?" She just said, "don't worry about me, I am fine"
At first I tried to ignore her but I couldn't help thinking how ridiculous now it looks, Here I am driving a convertible, soaking in all the sun and wind but my passenger is trying to do everything to cover every part of her body from the natural elements. It's sort like people driving a convertible with their top down but roll up their windows, except this is worse. So about half mile down the road, I pull off the the side and roll my top up, and closed all my windows. Seeing my reaction, my wife got tense and said why am I acting like this, I told her in a sarcastic way and saying "If I knew you are like this, I would take the other car, what a waste of a perfect day on an S2000 if you don't want to enjoy it. Anyway, as I was saying this, my driving started to get more aggressive and the next thing I know, I was redlining in 3rd gear shifting to 4th. Soon, our conversation became minimum and well, you know how it go....
Anyway, at the end when we arrived to the restaurant, I apologized to her about my driving and I said that from now on, I will never drive with my topdown whenever she is riding with me in my S. And she said, "No, better yet, when I am riding with you, you should always have your Hardtop on"
Now I know why she allowed me to get my hardtop.

It is still hard to get her to enjoy the top down on the interstate though.
LOL!!! All 3 of my girls LOVE top-down driving, and the faster, the better. I think you guys are just unlucky!
With my three there is a lottery to see who gets to ride with me on the Dragon roll-out. This year, I've decided to sell tickets...

Johnny,
Before I got this car, I was real sensitive to the pollen season.
About 1 month after getting it and riding topless, I started to get hit with the severe allergies. Thats when I started to use Zyrtec before I would go out.
I guess the combination of Zyrtec and me wanting to use my car without the top on has forced me to deal with it, and it hasnt bothered me much.
Although we are beginning to enter a new season of the yellow dust..so we'll see how I do this season.

My wife is not quite that bad but she still gives me a hard time. She doesn't mind the top down under very specific conditions.
Must be over 70 degrees or the heat must be on full blast.
If she did her hair then absolutely no top down.
My big thing is that fact that she says she wants a convertible. I'm like you park under bird doo everyday and you hate to have your hair messed up. How is that going to work?
I'm still waiting on the answer.
