North Carolina guys, I need your help
Possibly relocating to the Carolinas to accept a regional sales manager position within the next 8 months, and have some questions about places to set up shop. I've heard from a few people I know here, that Greensboro and Goldsboro are very nice places to live, with a relatively low cost of living and a small town feel close to a metropolis.
My search for homes in the area confirms this. Some of the home's i'd seen on line costing between 230-330 in both cities would cost upwards of 400-450+ here in Ohio. Would any of you be able to recommend to me any other cities/towns/villages in which to look that would be conducive to our above requirements?
We would like to find something in an established community offering easy access to highways and close to an airport.
Thanks.

Charlotte has cheap housing, but a lot of taxes. Lots of highways, near the airport, you can get a house in an area that "feels" like a small town. Houses here in your price range listed above would be huge. We are 4 hours from The Dragon and five from the coast, two hours from Asheville. Nice twisty roads within an hour or an hour and a half. Lots of S2K stuff going on if you like that.
I moved here in April from Florida and enjoy it. It typically doesn't really snow here in the winter, so no need to store the car, just drive it year round.

I appreciate the advice - Charlotte will be on our list then for sure. It'll be interesting to look at homes there, because if I can get sometihing comparable to what I have now, for less money - i'm sold.
I have family that lives in Goldsboro, and of the 2 places you mention, go with Greensboro, for sure!
Greensboro has a decent airport (with MUCH lower fares than flying out of Charlotte), it's directly on a major interstate, is still close to the mountains and is a small city. Goldsboro is definitely a small town. It would be a real life-styel choice between those 2.
However, if you're considering "anywhere", I agree that Charlotte is the place to live, but then again, I'm a native, so I'm a bit prejudiced.
It really depends on your business territory, and how far/how often you need to travel. Housing is going to be more expensive here, but there are so many more amenities.

OMG Greensboro, NOT Goldsboro! Sorry to any Goldsboro residents, but there's not much going on out there and its out in the flatlands.
Greensboro however is smack dab between Charlotte and Raleigh, close to the mountain roads, and is a university city with a decent arts and night life.

Greensboro for sure. Its right smack dab in the middle of everything in NC. 45 minutes away from Charlotte (depending on if you drive like me), 1.5hrs away from Raleigh, 2 hours or so away from the mountains and a few hours away from the beach. The dragon is also about 4 hours away from here and about 2 hours away from Asheville. As Saki GT said, Greensboro has a pretty good nightlife too and is a nice area. Charlotte isnt a bad decision either. Saki GT... did you move to C-hill?
