Default Oh, so many miles....

For those of you that know me, you probably already know that I'm trying to break the record for how many miles an S2000 is driven / year. Seems that all I do is drive, drive, drive... I love it!

BUT, realizing that I'm getting older and can't blow all my money on toys for the rest of my life, I've realized that I need to save the S2000 and make it last... So after racking up 37,XXX miles over the past year and 2 months, I'm finally buying a beater!

Check this out... 1989 Accord with 297,000 miles! It runs good, has cold AC, power windows/locks, a 5-speed and cruise control. Supposedly it gets like 35+ mpg too!

All this for $600! And here's the best part. I called State Farm, and my insurance is going to go down at LEAST $50/month. Maybe more, but she won't know until she submits it... This car is going to pay for itself in 1 year!

I've always wanted to see how long a Honda engine could go... looks like I'm gonna have my chance! Right now the only issues with it, besides typical wear/tear of a 15y/o 300,000 mile vehicle is that the timing belt will need replaced in 20,000 miles and according to Honda, the power steering is leaking somewhere. Good thing for me, my best friend owns a lift, so no problem there!

I know it's not as exciting as a TL, Scion, Element, etc... but the price is definitely right!

That rocks! All that for 600 bux is a killer deal.

Seeing that car reminds me that I need to fix up my 84 BMW 318i with 250,000. I think it needs a new starter and battery, a good thorough tune up, a nice carwash, and a detailed interior cleaning.

Awesome deal, Garret. I need to start driving the trooper more, but it needs brakes and new front CV's... I had an '84 318i at one point too! Damn, that thing was EXPENSIVE to maintain!

Dunno about the older Accord but the 92 Station wagon I had also had a leak on the steering rack. I was quoted $900 + labor for a new one. Never bothered (2.5 years)....

Spinners, yo!

First mod is definitely stereo. Nothing too exciting, just a spare CD player I have laying around... The guy was so honest, he was telling me how the tape player will sometimes be difficult to deal with. If you just eject the tape a time or two, it ought to work like a charm... I'm sure I'm going to be playing my favorite cassette!

I did drive it to work this morning. Does pretty well! I even hit 80 on the interstate. It's amazing though how scary fast the S2000 feels after driving this thing. I took the S for a ride last night just to show it some love and it felt better than ever!

Yeah, he said that Honda wanted $700 for this one... I'll throw it up on the lift and see if it looks easy enough to swap out one weekend. If not, I'll probably just drive it till it dies! 2.5 years... good info to know!

That is pretty cool man good find on the car. You sound like me with racking up all the miles I have put about 40k on mine in about 1.5yrs. So I bought a 97 nissan pickup for $650 this past saturday for my beater. I love it, its nice to have a bed to haul things in unlike the s lol. See you around down town. How it that phone I sold you holding up. If you need anything let me know.
