Default Oil Catch can set up (ebay)

I thought for the longest time that the p1259 on the track was from when i lowered vtec engagement on the track, and it lost oil pressure so i added the catch can and other mods as shown below. Actually the problem was my APEXI NEO. Since it is made to fit a bunch of different cars, apexi left out that you were supposed to SPLICE the "light green wire" (VTM - oil pressure) into the oil pressure wire in the ECU. Did that and now it works great, and i save oil on the track with these mods listed below.

Ok so my car burns through oil on the track and causing code p1259 (vtec malfunction).... my car is basically losing oil and oil pressure and not creating enough pressure for the vtec solenoid.

So here was my fix...

Baffled the valve cover

Oil Catch can set up. I bought this $36.00 catch can off ebay and it worked perfectly. I used an old Intake mount to mount the catch can. Works Great!

Stronger PCV valve. Got it at Advanced Auto Parks, its just a puralator valve, i forget the number, i can look it up if PM me or something.

Tested it out on the track, Got a little oil in the Catch can but over all no Code P1259

Where you burning it? If not, you have a much bigger issue. Ever see your oil light flicker?

To loose so much oil pressure to cause a vtec malfunction is a huge warning flag to me. If it was due to oil loss, you may have engine damage due to oil starvation. Vtec doesn't cut out until you're super low on oil.

Well it would go into some sort of "Safe Mode" and not let the motor go past 6k (yes yes it was warmed up)

I have have an apexi neo and noticed that when vtec was set at 5500rmp it would go into that safe mode, so i raised it back to 6k rmps and it never threw a code. Also, No my oil light does not flicker.

I didn't think the F20/22 was rated for 5w-30 :/

10w-30 or 5w-40 right?

Regardless, nice setup

Just a FYI I used Mobile 1 10w30 and was going through oil like crazy plus a lot of it was filling up in my catch can.

I just got back from the dragon and drove about 3-400 miles per day x3 days very hard and I only went through a half quart of Castrol Syntec.

On average I go through 1/4 a quart every 4,000 miles with Castrol Syntec when driving regular.

The oil discussion is endless but what has been proven is the S2000 eats up Mobile 1, IMO the oil shoots up through the PCV valve this is why my catch can was filling up. Is there a reason you are going with conventional oil over synthetic, just curious.

BTW very nice catch can setup I wish I would have known about the $35 ebay buy when I made my homemade home depot catch can
Thanks

I normally use Sythetic but i went with cheap conventional Pennzoil 5w-30 because it was on sale and i change the oil regularly anyway, but i already have Lucas 10w-30 Sythetic waiting to be put in it. Ill remember never to buy Mobile 1 for my S. Thanks for the advice.
anyone have any suggestions as far as oil filters go?

I'd only use OEM oil filters...they really are nicely constructed:

You can get a 6pk for $45 + shipping here: http://handa-accessories.com/s2000-03maint.html
