Default Poor baby's been keyed!!

OK....I run an errand at lunch on Friday, and go to the CVS Pharmacy on South Blvd. I'm in the store maybe 20 minutes, and when I come back to get in my car, there is a HUGE, deep scratch (approx. 12 inches) in my driver's side door and into the door handle. No witnesses, of course.

No way it could've been done by another vehicle. I was carefully parked and was nose into the building. No way someone was just walking past. They would've had to walk up to my door to do this. I've been keyed or something similar. WHY??? This is so upsetting.....

I just can't believe someone would do it accidentally and not leave a note. And there's absolutely no reason (that I know of) for anyone to want to hurt me personally. (Didn't cut anyone off in traffic, no illicit affairs...Ron would frown on that!). I just wish I understood how anyone can do something like this. And I JUST got my minor scratches repaired at Fall Colors!

Thanks for listening....I know it's happened to others in our forum before, but DAMN!!! The insurance estimate for repair is approximately $420. Looks like I'm headed to Performance Paint and Body shop this week.

OMG! Damn Sheila! I feel your pain. Why are people so cruel!?!? Morons! Jealous freaks of nature.

And after that one-on-one time during Fall Colors and all of the times I spared your car from FLYING GRAVEL during the multiple U-turns.

Hey, that reminds me. I saw a license plate frame on a minivan that read [b]"God allows U-turns."

At any rate, hope she is fixed correctly and soon. Keep us posted.

I wonder how well a "vehicle monitoring device" would sell for upscale cars? You know...have a TIVO in the trunk, small vid cameras mounted strategically across the corners of the dash for optimal wide-angle viewing...and then simply press a button when you want to record while away from your car. Were you to ever get keyed, a quick playback might offer clues to whom the culprit was .

Damn shame Sheila ...

Sheila,

I suspect "Big Deck envy" was the motivating factor.

So sorry to hear about this. You certainly didn't deserve to be treated like this.

Punk jerk!

Oh no Sheila!!! Did you mean to say Import Paint and Body where we had the detailing seminar? If you go there, look on the wall just left of the reception area and you'll see Raul's "Thank You" letter prominently displayed.

Sheila,

Sorry about your car.

BUT if the scratch is not all the way down the primer you can have a go with a scratch remover and/or rubbing compound.

I had a few scratches removed at FC and took a few pictures of the process. They basically just sanded and buffed them.

You can also give AeroColours a call, they have a branch in Charlotte (704) 662-2288. They may be able to help (and be cheaper too). Check out their page http://www.aerocolours.com/services.html

There are a couple of examples of what kinds of things they can fix (click on the pictures to see them full size)

For $500 no point in getting the insurance company involved.. right?
