Honda announced this is the last year of s2000... Should I trade in my 02 for a CR? What do you guys think? Or wait for the Acura sportscar (which may never come) Or just go with the new Z4...

Z4 is a waste of money. You would seriously miss your S. CR are nice and are really great on the track. It all depends on your what you use it for. Plus you going to miss the 9K redline.

9k redline is overrated...but midrange torque...well, it sure is nice...

I own both an AP1 and an AP2 - both have their quirks. But I can't say I really miss the 9k redline when I drive the AP2 - they are both a blast.

might also consider a standard (non-CR) '09 - those are going for pretty decent prices ATM. And you get a rag top.

I am really surpirsed that you both said that. Torque is a muscle car thing. Where is your Formula 1 love. High reving small displacement engines are the ultimate. Maybe I am just too big of a road racing/ F1 fan, but I dont need torque when I have momentum, carry your speed and keep the revs up and have fun, I dont like to granny shfit around town for "good driveablilty", its a two seater roadster for heavens sake its not supposed to be practical!

I hate they are stopping production of this GREAT sportscar. Best I have ever owned. It will make the ones we all have all the more rare.

I have never driven an AP1, but I know I would drive it up to 8600 (about when the redline starts blinking) several times, but it would not be something I do on a regular basis. I don't drive my '04 to 8000 on a regular basis at all. I do get on it and get above 6k, almost everytime I drive it, but I don't hit redline.
But that's just the way I drive. I'm sure some guys take it to redline on every shift, but I just don't need to to enjoy driving it. I didn't do that even before the turbo.

I might consider the 09 if I can get a good trade in on my 02 + a good deal like 25k on the 09 itself?

09 z4 sounds more interesting than the old one :-D inline 6+twin turbo and not a whole lot heavier and hardtop. I can deal with that. After almost 5 years owning my 02, I could use a bit of luxury and updated cabin and so on.

And I dont want to pick up another car payment really... So it sucks! 0% financing for the win!

i dont think torque is just a "muscle car" thing. Most all road racers will tell you it whats under the curve not just peak HP numbers and the ability to rev high. As far as F1 goes, those guys are on a whole different level...

But what comes to mind when you think torque? Drag race!

But a good driver can compensate for lack of torque with high revs and keeping momentum in the corners.

What is one of the most successful track ready car out there. IMO the Lotus Elise. Lotus has had the same fomula work for years. Light weight low power even lower torque sportscars that are demons on the track, because they can compenstate for lack of torque with high revs and momentum through the corners. I am a die hard road racer, and I believe that is what the S was intended to simulate.

B.M.W.= Buy More Warrenty

I work on Porsche's for a living and trust me BWM's get very expensive very fast. But if you plan on selling it before the warrenty is up then go for it.

Have you ever considered a Cayman S or Boxster S?
