S2k vs FT86 convertible
Just read this on the Insideline.
http://blogs.insideline.com/straightline/2...onvertible.html
it seems lots of people compare it to the S2K. it's a shame that next year the S2K is no more, I guess some people may seem this as an alternative? maybe? I am just curious how you all thing that the FT86 convertible stack up against the S2000?
Comment?

I would need to see the production version like Rich said...but more importantly how does it drive??? If it is like a Solaris then I wouldn't think it would be in the same class as the S. From the pic's it looks like a 2+2 and Toyota is famous for dulling down the cars for the masses.
We will see...is any car company coming out with a 2 seat sports car?? I mean something new not the old standby's Z4, Boxster, Miata, 350/370Z.

a while back I heard that Nissan is thinking to bring back the 240SX. but it may be just a rumor. and if they do, it will be sweet. Bring back the compact RWD sports car market !!!!!!!

I think part of the reason going to FWD is also for safety. RWD car have tendency to oversteer under low traction condition and it make sense to go with FWD for the average sedan. But now with the invention of traction/stability control, I guess car makers realized that with VSC, DSC, PSM, Trac. etc. RWD car can be safe again

Yea it seems like lots of companies are letting sports cars (esp cheaper, entry level ones) go by the wayside. I mean Nissan only has what, the GTR, and the G37 is nearly $45k. Toyota has NOTHING until this car comes out, Honda is ditching the S.
Guess we will all be buying an Evo or domestic for our S replacements, unless we venture to Europe for a BMW/Audi/Porsche.
Sad really.

If I am going to think in terms of "vs." I would like to know what the 2.0 is worth. If its an NA 2.0 with 190hp then it does nothing for me but its its a turbo 2.0 with 270hp then I'm listening. The price suggests NA and in that case, lookout Miata.
I wish Honda would build something new for to satisfy people who have owned an S2000 for the past 7-8 years and want that new Honda scent.

I've always owned Hondas, besides a '01 VW Jetta Wolfsburg I bought brand new and it was wrecked with 1800 mi on the clock
Long story...I will say it was not my fault at all.
Just wish these carmakers would realize the value of continuing to develop automobiles in the same vein as the S2k. There are MANY people in this segment that would love to see them go that way. I just hope Toyota doesn't water down the concept too much.
Anyways...we'll see I guess
