Default Sad night

So, after getting back to school on Sunday, 1 1/2 hour drive from columbia, I was going to pick up my girlfriend for some chill time, and I started to hear a clicking noise, so I started to slow down a bit, ( I was only going 20 mph max anyways). Then all of a sudden it sounded like my rim/tire exploded! I hit the brakes which showed no slowing down, so i pulled the hand break to try to slow me down a bit, which worked. I looked behind me and saw smoke so I knew it wasn't a good thing. I got out and wen't and looked at the driverside front wheel and I was amazed at what I saw, the caliper had rotated up and had punctured my rim I was amazed, cause I've never seen/heard of it happening before. The bottom bolt that holds the caliper to the axle or arm or whatever had come off and the caliper had rotated up caught the rim and about half of the caliper was in my rim when I looked with my flashlight, thankfully one of my buddies was drivin by and a state trooper had just pulled somebody and we could see the lights, so we went and asked him if he could come and help after he got done taking care of business with the other person. after getting the rim off and seeing the damage, the rim was the only thing that took any damage, neither the caliper nor rotor were damaged in the accident, unfortunately I was in the middle of the road so I had to get campus security to come and direct traffic. I ended up getting a rubber mallet and hammering the caliper back down onto the rotor, put my spare on and drove my car back to my house and put it up without using the brakes at all. Now im stuck trying to figure out where to get the bolt, its the bigger of the two bolts and the one furthest down on the caliper/ bracket. Can anyone help me figure out where to get it from?
Thanks
Stephen

Part 21 is the bolt you need to mount the caliper.

By any chance did you forget to tighten it when changing the pads? Or have a shop work on it?

I doubt that big bolt just fell out without being tightened but hey things happen

Glad you are safe anyways.

I would google nuts and bolts in greenville, nc and see what you find locally and bring one of the bolts with you. They will be able to tell you the pitch and size and hook you up.

Honda dealer would be the best place to order one from, or someone parting out a car.

I'm not sure if you'd be able to get a suitable bolt even from a nuts and bolts place. You need to have the proper sized non threaded areas on the bolt for the caliper to float on I imagine.

I think he is talking about the bolt the holds the caliper bracket. That should be pretty standard.

Hey buddy take the bolt you need out of the other side and swing by the shop I probably have something that will work in my spare bolt box. Its probably a 12mm bolt which is very common, shouldn't be hard to find.

I took off the calipers to try to install my semi-new spoon rotors, and I couldn't get the rotors off so I just painted my calipers gold with a rattle can, and then installed them using a impact wrench, so I doubt they weren't tight( not my first time doing a brake job) I didn't put locktight on them cause I knew I was going to try to get the philips head bolts off soon, to install the spoon's but Ive never heard of anyone putting loctite on brakes, but hey im only 19 :|
