Default Sheila's Car is Sick

Well, Brandon found me over in UTH, so I thought I'd post a pointer for everyone else over here.

Click here to follow the game over at Crown Honda.

Anyone know an independent automotive engineer here in Charlotte?

Sorry to hear about your troubles. I sure hope all goes well for Sheila.

Tell them to hurry up and fix it. The dragon is just around the corner.

I had a friend with a similar problem though - turned out to be worn valves, not bent, so he got them replaced and now has a happy S again.

Questions.

Were his valves worn or burned? How much mileage on the car?

There are questions over on they UMW forum about the expected lifetime of valves in these cars.

I don't know specifically what condition they were in, but his S threw misfire codes and when the dealer (west coast) pulled the head, they concluded the exhaust valves were shot and rebuilt everything with new valves under warranty.

He has an 03 (i think w/ 35-45mi) and apparently the worn ex valves is more common than you'd think. From what I read in the UTH thread, your valves are definitely worn, to say the least.

I can see what steps my friend took to get his rebuilt under warranty...
