Default Speeding ticket!

So New Year's Eve, I got pulled on 40 and got a speeding ticket for 17 over (82 in a 65). I don't want my insurance to go up and this is only my 3rd ticket, first was 16, second was last year, both taken care of and never hit my record.

Anyone a lawyer or have a GOOD friend who is one? I want to mail them the check and the ticket and never hear about it again except a call saying "it's taken care of."

Any input, contacts, etc is appreciated. PM me contact info if you prefer. Thanks.

I got a ticket on Christmas Eve...right near Kinston...doing 70 in a 55. I was really doing 65 in a 55...with traffic...but the State Trooper could care less and said, "If you were doing 65, you coulda just as easily been doin' 70."

And a Merry Christmas to you too...

Anyways...I need to find a lawyer to take care of mine too...

Too bad we aren't in the same county...

Best of luck on getting yours taken care of.

Airgate I feel like I should have known. My last 2 have been on I40 early in the morning, and especially it being the 31st with the quotas to make. Oh well, guess I'll go back to the 9 over rule.

There are just some sections on i-40 you just dont speed on.
540 interchange, Airport Road, Aviation, Harrison Ave exits are the worst speed traps at times- especially when those crummy RDU Police get into it!

I tell everyone that Pre-Paid Legal is the best. Whenever I get a ticket, I just call them and they get it taken care of, and it never goes on my record and my insurance never acts up.
Merritt, Flebotte, Wilson, Webb & Caruso, PLLC is our area's local referral firm and they've done a wonderful job in taking care of my past tickets..and there have been some dooseies.

Ultimate, is Pre-Paid legal a firm? What are we talking here price wise? Any idea?

Edit* I see, Pre-Paid legal is a referral firm so they just send your ticket to an area firm and they take care of it. I will call Merritt, Flebotte, Wilson, Webb & Caruso next week. Anyone there you have delt with that went particularly well? If you feel so inclined, PM me the name of the person and their telephone number. Thanks

PPL is $25 a month. I feel it's much better than nothing, and I use it a lot for more than just traffic offenses.

If you had any legal issues, or even questions it becomes more useful. They've advised me, written off and scared many businesses with that legal-letterhead-letter stuff and looked over and explained legal documents for me. I don't quite any strong personal relationships with many of the judges, DA's and other lawyers in this area yet, so this will have to do for now.

Oh, here is the follow up. He had a jacked up f250 (8inch lift, 40 tires, heavily modified) that made a lot of noise. Got a window tint ticket. Got it taken care of at the DMV and DA (a friend of his). Officer claimed he didn't show up for court (he didnt because it was taken care of) and arrested him in front of his boss and customers. He claimed to the DA that "I knew he had his tint off. I saw his truck and he showed me the form." Still arrested him though. Just trying to be an A$s I guess. (This is the same dept. that is under investigation for police brutality at the ECU football game.) He got desk duty for 6 months and my brother got off the hook. Lawyer met him at the front steps of the court house and laid into the officer.

In wake county all you need to do is show up to court and they will reduce your ticket to 9 over.

Take half a personal day and get it over with. Lawyer is a waste of money in your situation.

If you do go for a lawyer I can strongly recomend Russell Dement III
