Yeah never took it there. Too scared

Did you ever get a engine oil light while the car was running? Does your car shut off on low rpm's randomly after a coast?

I think I have the same issue. The guys that changed my oil didnt tighten the oil cap and it popped off, sending oil everywhere. I did not get any lights, but now I have the same sound. I thought TCT, had Billman send me one, changed it and sound is still there.
Do you not recommend fixing it? Is it better to replace motor? Trying to see what my options would be. |
Hate to Revive this but ya'll seem most helpful. My car is making the exact same noise albeit much slower in tempo and throwing CEL Codes for random misfire + misfires on all 4 cyclinders. Furthermore when coming to a stop after a 15min+ drive the car stutters and almost dies. Cleaned injectors, MAP, changed plugs and Oil and no luck. Is replacing the engine necessary or can i just replace the bearings?
I'll be Pulling oil pan after having my valves checked and retainers replaced as i still have the ap1 ones. Has 60k miles on the odo. Thanks |
Have you checked compression? How did the old oil look when you changed it? More importantly, how did it smell? Any burned or aluminum smell is bad news. Put a gauge on the oil galley and see what the real number is. The light doesn't come on until pressure is very low. If it oil starved enough to spin a bearing, look very carefully under the valve cover for damage too. With the stuttering and dying, sounds like you have more going on than just the noise.

You spun a bearing and then just replaced the bearings to fix it? That's a recipe for a 100% failure rate.
