Default Teen Driving Class

Drove the S up to Charlotte speedway Saturday to take my daughter to the Petty teen driving school. 500 miles with an 8 hour break in the middle! The S did great, 30+ MPG. Only saw one other S on the road, and it was a Suzuka Blue AP-1, just like mine.

The school was excellent. All of the staff were racers of some sort, not just the instructors. Professionalism and competence were both very high. They concentrated on getting out of trouble rather than high performance driving. Lots of emergency stops, lane changes and skid control. They took all the kids and sat them in the cab of a semi so they would realize what a truck driver can’t see. Before they started, my daughter was convinced that she was going to crash the car. When they were done she had a smile a mile wide, a much better understanding of safe driving and a big confidence boost. If you are the parent of a teen driver, put them through this class. If you have a girl, tell them not to worry, several of the instructors and least half the class were girls.

No...not really a good platform to "learn" on, especially the early AP1.

Just don't get him a '00-'01 Celica GTS to learn on...bad things will happen.
