Pay the bill, because if the collection agency is sending you letters then your credit is already taking some damage from the late payments. Depending on the amount is dependant on if i would go the legal retribution route
You don't say what the amount is, but if you can swing it, pay it off asap so your credit isn't ruined further. You will suffer in lots of ways she won't, since she apparently doesn't care about ruining her own credit. I agree with others above...get rid of the debt and let it and her go! Good luck.

I suppose I will pay it up and find out where she lives and steal all the body panels off her car a bit later OSLT. The amount is less than $1k but still as I said... money hasnt been coming easily to me.
