Default Upcomming Emission law changes?

I noticed a few posts here and there and it seems like all 50 states are planning to adopt new Emission laws aswell as inspection around 2012? I figured SC was typically against this but i am not sure. Anyone got some input on this? might make my modification choices change a bit if this is the case. Looking for input thanks.

Just keep your stock parts and you should be ok.

I didn't see anything online about it. If they do, I'm probably screwed.

what are the emission/inspection standards for NC/SC currently?

For example, in PA you get your car inspected at any shop who is certified to inspect your car. In Delaware we have to go to a state run inspection station, get a piece of paper if you pass, trade that paper for a sticker in the DMV (pain in the butt).

In SC there currently isn't any (at least not to register your car). All that they care about is if you pay your taxes.

Which is pretty much awesome. If SC changes their laws I will not be happy.

I was looking to move to Charlotte in like a year, but Fort Mill, SC is right over the border. I wouldn't move to a state just for the emissions laws but just curious what they were.

Thanks!

NC still has the annual emissions inspections, but SC did away with annual emissions inspections years ago. With that being said, any issues/violations you have with your vehicle are left to the discretion of law enforcement. There have been recent talks of bringing back the inspections, but I don't think they've been able to justify the cost vs the gains.
