Default US General Jack finally died!

Bought at HF before the speed jacks were popular/common/affordable except for this US General one. I picked up a US General jack but unfortunately I have recently seen it oozing out oil from the piston as it gets pumped up. Granted I always use a jack stand as backup it still worries me.

Definitely going to buy the extended warranty on the new one but I can only hope it holds up as well as this one has. It has to be 12-14 years old now! My old jack wouldn't fit under the car and took 400 pumps to get it up in the air. So the rapid pump 6 and done was awesome!

Are you sure it's dead? I'm pretty sure I saw it driving around in a red Corvette selling car insurance.

Found a place online that it looks like I can buy the parts(o-rings) necessary to fix it.

I bought the 1.5 ton from HF with a 2 year warranty. It's a little guy and at its max just is high enough for me. So it will do for now but will probably see about fixing the old one. It's only just now started leaking so I am sure it's just an o-ring gone bad. Only question is can I take it apart and put it back together correctly along with identifying the correct bad part(s).

I have a rapid pump jack from HF and it just started leaking oil when there is load on it. It has been more than 10 years so I think I got my money's worth. Will probably purchase a low profile long reach HF jack soon.

Those enormous 3-ton steel jacks from HF will lift really high. However its really heavy and cumbersome, but if you have the storage room and muscles they work outrageously well.

Being cheap, resourceful and curious I tore apart the jack. Well it's fairly simple setup and amazing it lasted so long. Probably due to simplicity.

So I need to clean up the cylinder tube, get some new o-rings and put her all back together....fill up with fluid and see if she works!

If so I might just return the little jack I got.

I had a HF low jack that worked fine for about 2 years. When it finally died,I got a Sears unit. They look very much alike. Probably made by the same Chinese company but at least I have a warranty.

Update: http://www.hcrcnow.com/ Awesome customer service!

All of $13 o-rings with shipping and $5 in new hydraulic fluid. Just waiting delivery of the o-rings.

Who needs a warranty when "dad" can fix anything!

Probably would be better off putting my mind into other things but oh well.

She lives on to see another day!

Now to return the dinky HF version! I just don't trust it.....it's so small.
