Default vtec question

Okay so my vtec won't kick in when my engine is cold, but when it warms up it runs like a champ, what's goin on with it?

Ah... I'll be nice...

Honda implemented that system to safeguard the engine from people that try to drive like a maniac on a cold engine. In a nutshell, Honda is protecting your car's engine from you.

I did this by accident when I was new to my car and I was told 2 bars on the temp gauge was fine.... I now always wait for 3 bars and a clear road before vtec. Don't feel bad OP...I'm sure everyone's romped on a cold engine at some point.

Yup easiest way to learn stuff like that. If it's not up to temp no vtec. I'm sure there's a way to bypass that but why would anyone want to?

Don't worry, we've all done it at some point. Some members on here will be quick to point out when I did it at a meet no less
