Q1: Where is the vehicle located?

Q2: What is the process for taking over a lease? How does the payment liability get transferred?

just a FYI..... for the owner of the car- if you transfer the lease and the new owner stops paying, you are still held responsible for it

The vehicle is located in Louisville, KY. If you are within a 6 hour drive I am willing to meet you halfway to deliver the car once the paperwork is completed. If you are further than 6 hours away I would recommend flying in and driving the car back.

The lease is through US Bank. I have transferred 2 other car leases through them so I am familar with the process. Here is how it works:
1. If you are interested in the car I will mail you a signed odometer statement and intention to transfer lease statement along with a credit application for US Bank.
2. Once you fill out the US Bank paperwork you mail it in to them with a $50.00 application fee (if you end up taking over the lease I will refund this $50.00 fee to you out of my pocket).
3. If your application is approved then US Bank will send you back the complete lease transfer paperwork packet. This includes all the assumption forms. Depending on where you are located you can then either meet with me here in Louisville where we can both take the forms and have them notarized, or you can fill out your portion and have it notarized, mail the form to me, and then I will have my portion notarized and send the forms in. There is a $250.00 transfer fee that I will also pay.
4. Once the notarized paperwork has been received by US Bank the lease is technically transferred to your name. If you had mailed me the paperwork then you can come pick up the car at any time, if you actually came to Louisville then you can take the car with you the same day that the paperwork is filled out.

US Bank allows full lease assumption. Unlike what acbimmer said above, the lease is completely in your name after the transfer process.

Please let me know if anybody has any further questions about the car or the transfer process. Thanks for looking!
