After a quick stop at FoH today, my dad and I found out that there's still no waiting list on the 360 CS, the first of which is to be delivered in late December or early January. You need to put $20k down to get on the list... Surprisingly, there are already 3 people on the waiting list for the Ferrari 612, which doesn't even debut until next year!
So, the reason we got the 575M is because the 360 CS was going to take too long... But one more month isn't too bad any more...
Well, the impulsive buyer that my dad is, he put another $20k down for the first 360 CS at FoH. He told me he's not buying another Ferrari, but if he were to get the Challenge Stradale, he'd trade in his 575M.
Do you guys think it's a fair trade? With the miles we've put on the 575M (about 5000), it'd be almost an even trade, in terms of $$$. But, is it worth it to trade in the 575M, with classic Ferrari styling, powered by a front-mounted big V12, driving the rear wheels through a gated manual gearbox (epitome of Ferrari), for the boy racer, V8-powered mid-engine 360 with the semi-auto?

normally I vote
but in this case, it's the CS hands down. It's just such a cool car. like you said, tradition over fun? I vote fun, plus if you want to pull the anal traditional card, you need to step up and buy a GTO and spend all day on it with the diaper....

I do show my dad these polls so I'd appreciate it if you do actually vote.

Also, the 360 CS is supposedly only good for 0-60mph in 4.0sec, and tops out at a slow-ish 187mph. The 575M was (according to my Timex stopwatch) good for 0-60mph in 4.5sec, and topped out at 205mph.
EDIT: He's put it down for a red without the stripe, and with the red/black non-leather interior.

i like the way you put it, wickster... "tradition vs. fun"
while we've yet to take the maranello to the track, i think with the 360, we'd have it there as soon as it was broken in

I admit, I like the boy racer looks. It's kinda futuristic and cool. I know it isn't the fastest in its class, I guess the GT3 is faster? but I still like the 360 better, always have. Porches to me are like ugly girls with great bodies. great legs, shaved snatch, nice boobs...... but she's still got an ugly face....
I admit I'm just not a porsche fan, but have driven a couple and highly respect them
thanks for letting me ramble about nothing....

911 = squashed and stretched VW beetle
i believe the 911 GT3 is marginally quicker/faster than the stradale... but put me in the 360, and i guarantee you i will pass that GT3

I voted for the 360 CS, but it's not a clear cut case for me. I think the 360 is probably the epitome of the Ferrari mid-engine layout, but I also admit an undying love of the classic front engine layout of the 575.
There's just something about the CS that appeals to where I am right now in my life...the more stripped down sporting experience.
I have to admit, however, that when I was at the Seattle auto show a week or so ago that it was the 575 that held my attention despite there being two 360 Spyders (REALLY don't like them) and a "regular" 360 as well.

that's my choice also, but with as much seat time i've had in the 575m (i'd say 3000 of those 5000 miles), it's hard to let it go.
and the raw power of it is just unreal. i've seriously driven it around all day without shifting out of 3rd gear! and that includes coming to a complete stop! and in rush hour traffic! there's just that much torque.
i guess with one day in the 360 i wouldn't regret letting him trade in the maranello? we'll see what he says when i send him the link
brant, that's how i was at the houston auto show. they had a gray 575m, and i just stared and stared. there was a red enzo, 2 maseratis, and a 360 modena and 360 spider, but it was still the maranello that held my attention.
i guess in the end, it all boils down to which is more practical for what we want out of it. he already has his high-speed cruiser (E55), so we need a factory track monster. the challenge stradale should fulfill that role, no?
