In some lesser-developed parts of the world (notably Africa), girls are castrated by having their clitoris chopped off so that they cannot experience sexual pleasure.

I think this is some sort of campaign to raise money for those poor girls and women so that they can be "whole" again.

 

Oh. . . so yeah. . . in college, we had this trumpet player in our Wind Ensemble who was a sociology major. . . he'd get drunk and discuss genital mutilations. Man, that was a party. Yeesh.

this is true. I worked on a campaign with the UN back when i lived in the MIddle East to help rid third world countries of Female Genital Mutilation. It does happen and at much greater rates than you might think. It's really sad actually.

 

Oh yeah. . . my point was that you don't get drunk and begin discussing it in hope to liven the party up.

I'm all for social consciousness, but genital mutilation is not light repartee at parties.
