I thought basic was pretty cool too, Luke, but when the Academy school year started it was another story.

Anyway, it's all about perspective. I know you'll enjoy it. Just remember that the point of all that BS is to get you used to following orders and to get you accustomed to what it's like to be a real grunt. Ultimately, marching, rifle manual, and clean belt buckles are meaningless; it's the ability to switch gears quickly and stay on your toes that's important.

That's cool that your friend will have to salute. I'm sure he'll really enjoy that.
