Andy, what are you planning to do?
About all the soccer -- sorry, football -- hooligans you Brits are unleashing on poor James' polite society next month. To wit:
(1) England's Game 1 is 6/7 in Sapporo with Argentina. Argentina's Aldo Duscer broke the left foot of England's David Beckham in April. Also, you won the Falklands War.
(2) Schools are closing. Barbers are locking up their scissors. Police are arming with pole-mounted wire nooses to snare ankles and giant net-shooting guns.
(3) Takayoshi Konno, a member of the ruling Liberal democratic Party" "We must brace against unwanted babies being conceived by foreigners who rape our women."
(4) Tokyo homeowner Mikako Murata: "They're probably bald, fat, and drunk, with tattoos."

More to wit:
(1) The police are adding "hooligan helpers'" beefed up K9 units, and new plexiglass riot shields.
(2) If these precautions don't work, they've also programmed giant trucks with huge digital signs that read: "We are the police. Calm down."
(3) The media is whipping up fears of a modern day invasion of the Huns.

It is interesting actually that even the "expat" bars are getting worried. Many of them are handing out membership cards at the moment, so that they can keep out the travelling fans. One that I know is having ALL of the furniture removed from the bar... basically, if it isn't screwed down it will be removed before the world cup starts. Another is having all of it's windows boarded over and they will be using a small, inconspicuous side entrance that they hope only regulars will be able to find!!!!
Here is a funny article from Reuters

TOKYO, May 21 (Reuters) - Japanese railway companies want to help prevent violence at World Cup matches by gluing down the stones that line their train tracks.
