will it be big enough to host larger races? (I'm trying to remember if Indy, ALMS run out there yet)

I don't see any space allowing for stands and the like. . . that's always been the caveat, to the best of my knowledge.

Looks like an expansion so they can have 2 events at a time there...

Jed, I'll be there next week for LeMons.

Mocky it's already long enough for a top car race. It's longer now than Mosport, Watkins Glen, Road Atlanta, Infineon, Laguna Seca and many more top tracks. The permanent facilities my not manage a top race though. Temp facilities might manage. (8D) There is PLENTY of room for grandstands but few in place now. If I'm not mistaken the yellow rectangles shown on that map in the T1-T2, and T8-T9 straights are grandstands. If and when they ever get installed who knows.

The idea of a top race is not likely though. The target of TH is the amateur enthusiast and they hit that target well, perhaps better than any other course of it's kind in the US. Calabogie in Cda might do as well... maybe.

Billy I can see a couple of configs that would work for two events at the same time but I honestly don't see this happening... or at least it would be rare. TH rents facilities a la carte including how much track you use, do you use the clubhouse, etc. I would imagine they would simply make pieces of the track optional and additional cost. One thing I hope they do is run sections equally. Similar to a golf course that has 3 nines and lets one recuperate while the other two are played. If there are essentially only 2 courses run (the conventional like now, and the extended) the extended part will be a lot nicer and that would suck.

Feck Billy! I'd love to do a Lemons one day. How do you get so lucky. I don't know if I can make it up but I'll consider it.

I'd love to be able to make it out there someday and check it out... I am slated for a west coast trip in Sept of 2010 but I highly doubt I'll drive the CR cross country... most likely, I'll fly in... I definitely would love to get a ride one day thoguh...

I have heard good things about Thunderhill... lots of run-off?

LOTS of run-off. I'd say the only places with less than LOTS are (out of 15 corners) outside T14 (there's run-off but lots, not LOTS) and the inside wall on T15. The outside of T15 has lots of run-off but people will occasionally often go off to the outside and instead of running off, they'll try to get back on (or pinch) and end up friends with the inside wall.

If there's a track day we'll try to get you rides at least.
