Apparently when I was a kid I got in a fight with my mom. I threatened to run away and she was so mad she helped me pack. I took my suitcase and sat outside for a while. Being stubborn, I didn't want to knock on the door to be let back in, but I really wanted to lay down for a rest. The car was in the driveway and unlocked, so I took my bag and crawled into the back seat and evidently fell asleep for several hours.

When I woke up my mom was FREAKING and, needless to say, I was grounded for some time...

I guess we've all done the run away thing at one time or another.

I'm trying to loosen the vice-grip on these kids. They HAVE to start to understand the world and their part(s) in it.

It's all about taking responsibility for your own actions. Many adults don't even get it.

Apparently there's a fine line between letting them find their own place in this world and realizing that until they're old enough they still have to respect your rules...like NO RUNNING AWAY!!

Does it matter if I don't mind if they run away... Permanently?
