Apparently the Red Sox have to sign all their free agents to make it happen again.

I think that's why many folks are happy to see the Red Sox win... It's proof that money -- while an important factor -- is not the whole enchilada when it comes to sports.

Arod is an awesome player, but you can be sure his astronomical salary irks many people (even his teammates), and it's bad for baseball.

Just one man's opinion.

How can you say money isn't the whole enchilada? The Sox spent $125 million in player salaries, second only to the Yankees. The Cardinals spent a "paltry" $75 million.

Minnesota was the only team in the bottom half of payrolls to make the playoffs. Seems like money is a pretty deciding factor.

Well, if it were everything, Jeff, the Sox wouldn't've beaten the Yankees would they? And, can we talk for a moment about the Yankees payroll?? -- $183M!! Sox may be second to them, OK, but it ain't even close, Jeff.

I'm not denying the importance of salary, I'm just saying that it isn't everything. A team with gumption and spirit can win.

The whole salary structure of this league needs to change. Even Arod has said it. You look at the NFL and how things work there; it's a good example.
