So this girl at work asked me if I ever wanted to do something, to let her know. Is it a good idea to date a co-worker?

Generally No.

Unkie 8D well-advises that in such cases, that the coworker be at least one Vice President away. In your line of work, I'd say at the very least, a different county, if not further.

By dating her you're shitting where you eat and comprimising your professionalism (and would be in direct violation of the agreed-to plan for you).

By not dating her, you're upping the professional ante, making yourself more aloof, and subsequently hotter. You'll eventually get invited to a party at her place. Bang the out of her friends. . . discreetly (she is a co-worker after all).

Right before landing an airplane, why must all the window shades go up?

Well, DUH. To make the cabin lighter

makes for a much smoother landing

It's for visual confirmation on both the pilot's, cabin crew's, ground crew's and the controller's respective ends.

My dad was career FAA.

The actuality of this is that it dates back from time-in-memorium, where the pilots would find that sort of thing still handy. Every now and then, it apparently still comes in handy (esp. when landing and taking off in icy conditions - for wing checks).

The plane is quite heavy enough, the trick is to get the sucker under V2, while still maintaining thrust control for an emergency touch-n-go, or to activate the thrust buckets.

Heh heh heh, I said "thrust."

I was actually trying to make a "Jason" with the comment about being lighter *^-^*
