UnkieT,
Where should we go for my bday, now?
After doing a bit more research, I don't think The Trappist is the best place to go. No food (that I could find), no waiter service, no reservations, and Yelp says it's not good for groups. It literally is just a bar.
I was thinking La Trappe in SF... but their prices seem outlandish for beer ($41 for Allagash Tripel?! I'll walk over to Bevmo and get it for $12).
Any other ideas?

If this is a case where Nicole has brought up the logistics issues, suggest Luka's Taproom.
If this is a case where Nicole has NOT brought it up, then wait until everybody gets there, and we just improvise the rest of the night. Don't worry; everything will be fine. The Trappist says they have a menu; it's just not listed. I suspect we'll be fine.
Remember, this night is about you and your friends and just having a good time. The beer snobbery is secondary (albeit a close second).

Okay, so at this point, you're sort of hosed. . . sorta.
