Whats in mom's house again that hasn't been since she lived in mamish?
So, there was a 10 year span wherein I had been to London more times than to Southern California. What I then discovered was that I had nothing against Los Angeles, or Hollyweird. In fact, I've come to find appreciation for Hollywood, but I digress. . . it was Orange County. If ever there was a place on Earth that fostered stereotypes, birthed stereotypes, and just made things miserable, it was, and still is, Orange County. Never have I seen such a support of sustained mediocrity as that place. I cross the line, somewhere on The 405 after Long Beach (the good part of Long Beach?), and then it happens. . . more stucco, the cars get cleaner, the road signs are straight and in order, the freeway becomes just a little smoother. . .

. . . and then you pull off the 405. For the love of God, don't pull off. Don't leave the freeway. You have to; I know. Your 3rd cousin's ex-boyfriend who borrowed your entire Weird Al Cassette collection wants to give it back, and you were going to Escondido on a beer trip. . . So, you're there, in Orange County. It all looks nice, it all looks, well, just so. Just in order. The stucco is a lie, and you know it. The strip mall is a lie, and you know it. The big shopping mall is a lie, and it has the biggest lie of all: valet parking. Valet parking, at a shopping mall. You don't need this. You don't need any of this, but the monsters around you need it. They need to spend, consume, and act like they're having a great time doing this. All the while, you don't see anybody working. Where the f@#k does all this money come from, when you don't see anybody working (except CalTrans putting up cones on the 405)? This isn't East Coat money. What the f@#k am I watching here, and why is everybody so damn interested in the newest franchise restaurant, when all they want is In-N-Out? Who the eff are these people? Why is there so much stucco, and why are they fixated on making everything look "nice," when they know damn well that "nice" is boring? Why are they so uptight trying to look like they're relaxed?

Don't get off the freeway in Orange County. Just don't, unless you have to. . .

But the fact is, I don't know what's in Gina's house again, but I'm going to find out when I drive South again. This time though, it won't be to Orange County. Thank God.
Bring Blue to La Crescenta again. We have an In-N-Out right up the street from our house.

Jefe. . . you're a "have to" reason to go to Orange County. I just might need more purple in my drank when I get there, that's all.

Raptor, we've got plenty of In-N-Out Burgers up here. In fact, the best In-N-Out fries I've ever had were from the one in Fremont.

What we are going to try and do though, when we drive down for Gina's BBQ, is stop and have lunch at Golden Road Brewing (and pick up some brew to bring over for the party).
