In high school detention (not that I was there much) we had to write our names down on a pad for attendance. We would write the name Dick Hertz down then when the teacher read the names he would say who's Dick Hertz..... If I remember right we got the idea from a movie.

At university we had to put out names on a list as it came round.... it would almost always end up with about 30 more names than people actually in the class, and it was amazing how many times Pamela Anderson and the like came to our classes
