The iPhone is a cool gadget by my girlfriend has had some trouble with hers. Safari likes to close by itself with no reason or warning and the charger stopped working and had to be replaced. I'll stick with my LG phone and Dell computer for now.

Absolutely true. This happens in my iPod Touch and I confirmed with my buddy (from Apple) that it happens on his iPhone too.

"... Safari crashing. Oh yeah of course" (sneering)

G I have a Touch and it's awesome. If you take my suggestion you'll get an invisible shield. Fussy to put on but once on it's awesome.

IMO you buy the full body shield but only put on the back. The front is tough, unlike the old ipods but the back scratches and gets fingerprinty. The front gets fingerprints too but whatever. Once on the shield is really quite invisible and thin. You won't get better IMO.
