yes, the drive rotates at a constant speed. what doesn't make sense...the density thing was more joke than serious thought.

They can only spin them so fast and then the 1's all move to the outside and the 0's settle to the inside.

(I meant it didn't make sense to have a limit on RAM to 3G)

Yeah, the memory limit confuses me as well. It's the same deal with iMacs (you can put two 2gb chips in, and if you boot into single user mode, all the memory is there...but OS X won't see or use 1gb of it) and the reasoning was that the iMac is a consumer machine and apple didn't want iMacs overlapping the mac pro, but the macbook PRO having that limit...senseless.
