Tooch gave me a ProTools system for my place today.

Yeah. . . but within seconds of opening the box we ran into a technical glitch: I don't have a compatible computer.

I called Tooch. . . sure enough, he had a PCMCIA-1394 card. . . who the hell has one of these at this point?

Tooch, apparently.

 

 

It does help that Digidesign's main offices are up the road from here.

The licensing on this virtual recording equipment is hyper stringent. I mean, somewhat understandably, but it's also not that stable either.

For me to use this system, the previous owner had to send a transfer request to digidesign. Otherwise, it's fundamentally own a brick.

I haven't fired it up. I still need to get the FireWire card from Tooch-the-drummer.
