They are bringing an Indy car event to Baltimore next year! Just approved by the city today.

Should be a pretty cool route through downtown by the Inner Harbor, Oriole Park and Ravens Stadium

Sounds like it's going to be a good event. Here's IndyCar's take on it:

Like the Phoenix Formula I street race, the San Jose CART race was underfinanced, mismanaged, and a boring circuit with lots of 90° turns, with many uninterested eyeballs that masqueraded as race fans. It was doomed to fail from the start.

That said, San Francisco would not have it. . . which would make for a way better course.

I've watched Long Beach and the Long Beach GP grow the last 36 years. In the beginning, Long Beach was the Pike, prostitutes, tattoo parlors, and drunken sailors. The city was very run down. Now the Pike is high end development, including upscale restaurants. All but one high rise are new. THe city has changed remarkably, much of due to the GP, at least in the early years. The three days of racing are about 20 times the logistical equivalent of the Rose Parade (same grandstands -- where else in LA is there the annual need for temporary seating forr 70,000?)
the far left of the course is a kind of bad area though it's mostly industrial by the stadium.
Everything else is right down the main one way thoroughfare by the Inner Harbor and all the shops and touristy stuff and then wraps around the Convention center.
Their should be pretty srs vantage points all over that course, though the start finish line will probably be on Pratt St. somewhere.
