Just don't sacrifice who you are to be with anyone. Compromises along the way are expected, but be true to who you are or you will regret it in the end.

In the past I've compromised myself too much and realize now that I didn't get as much out of those periods in my life as I could have...

I'm not saying this to dissuade you, but if you have to sacrifice things that you love to be with someone then you might be trying too hard...
