Well, technically, it's a 2007 that was a demo bike for a local bike shop...

I didn't take it, but here's a pic I found of a nearly identical bike...

That's awesome, Brant, but I don't understand the monocog... Is that a single speed? If so, do you use this mostly for downhill / flat riding?

Two things.

First, mine's more of a matte brown rather than the gray/green in the pic...but otherwise quite similar.

Second, yes, it's a single speed. I've been mountain biking for years now and had sort of fallen out of it in favor of my road bike. I actually quit riding my mountain bike all together. I decided that I wanted something stone simple...and a single speed fit the bill.

It's not a fixed gear, so I can still coast and the gearing is good enough for the flats and limited climbing and it is the most fun I've had on a bike in YEARS!!

At 36 years old it's teaching me everything I loved about the first time I pedaled a bike around the neighborhood when I was a kid!!

My shoulder's been messed up since just before I bought the bike a few weeks ago, but when I'm better I'm going to hit the trails up the hill from my house and play in the woods. For the first time in ages, I'm on a bike that puts me (pace-wise) on par with my kids on their BMX bikes...so we're all going to go goof off and ride!

It does have two effective gears...sitting and standing!

Sounds great, Brant! I might have to look for one of these for my kid when he gets a little bigger. Rock on!
