As much as I'd like to see the EC eliminated... I'm not sure popular vote is necessarily better.

In '00, it shouldnt have been that close. Clinton beat Bush and Dole by a much, much larger margin. There was no question back then. Its also very coincidental that Florida was the problem state, with Jeb Bush at the helm

Fact-the vast majority of counties are Democrat in FL.

Fact-the votes that (in over 90% of disputed cases) came from a Democrat-run voting precinct.

Fact-the votes cast in those precinct used the same exact ballot slips ( that elected those Democrats) as used in the 00 election.

Fact-there was NEVER a documented case of an registered voter in the state of FL who was not allowed to vote.

Fact-count after re-count after re-count showed that GWB won the election.

Okay, so WHY was Florida such an issue if Florida is Democrat majority?

My opinion?

The Dems were looking for any excuse to contest the election results. It was a close race (not denying/debating that fact).

Every single one of the allegations that the Democrats brought to the fore-front, every single one of them were proven to be baseless.

Yeah, Jeff, that makes sense. Nicely put. I guess my simple argument is that a "national" candidate is one that represents the majority, not some artificial weighting of states. Frankly, I think a popular vote is the only fair way to do it.

These "facts" are from what source? Cite them please.

FACT: The recount was stopped by the Supreme Court before it was complete.
