snapping your fingers makes you

I recently taught someone how to do this.

The snapping sounds doesn't come from your fingers. It comes from your middle finger slapping the skin below your thumb. You use your thumb against the middle finger to build up resistance, and when you release, it slams down with more force than you can generate on your own without the thumb.

Try focusing on aiming your middle finger to hit the skin under the thumb and then you'll be able to hear the noise!

Now, if someone could just teach me how to whistle

 

I actually DO use my middle finger and thumb but it sometimes dosen't quite make a nice sharp :snap:
I like to do it though esp to certain songs

You're right. I'd never thought about how it worked before. To confirm put the index finger of your off hand over your thumb pad. The snap will be muffled - unlike the noxious emmisions from 8D.
