Got a lot of work to do and have to drive from SF to LA tomorrow. Family emergency.

Actually, it's my grandmother.

She will pass away tonight or tomorrow morning.
She is 95-year-old and has severe pneumonia.
The family decided not to take heroic measures (hospital talk)

Most of my aunts and uncles are in LA holding a vigil over her bed...

 

I have to prepare a talk for next week so I have to finish it tonight...

Will drive home with a friend tomorrow..

 

I'm more worry about my mother.

She is very emotional right now and hasn't been able to sleep well for the past few nights.

I have been calling her everyday...

I have been through the same thing 3 times, and have no grandparents left now (my mother's mother passed awat before I was born).

No matter how expected it is, or how much further suffering is prevented, it is still a hard time ....

My thoughts are with you, and I hope that your family can pull together and get everyone through this tough time .....

 

Right now I'm in a strange mood.

My mood: life is short. You have to make everyone happy and live it to the fullest.
So I am actually enjoying this moment when I am healthy, have a good job.

I have been looking at all the grandma pictures in my hard drive earlier. I felt an irreversible loss but now I just have a peaceful feeling

It's kinda strange feeling.
