we'll also plug it in and hear how it sounds. if there is very low noise it should be near-new. if there's some additional noise (hard to describe, but I know what it sounds like) I can drop the $ more.

'cause that would mean it has decent milage on it already. but none of my drives are making noises like that and this one's been used less than they have, so it should be pretty good.
