Yeah, the money will be spent on stealth bomb detectors, instead.

Look how many years it takes to get one from beginning to end. The Apache was designed in the 70's...it'll be another 30 years if they cancel the Comanche.

The Comanche started in what, '82 or '83? The SR-71 and F117 were developed in a fraction of the time and at a fraction of the cost. I love buereacracy...

Sorry about the news, Iuke. IMO, a superior helicopter is one thing we definately need right now. The number of Apaches lost in Kuwait/Iraq should make that pretty obvious... I'm sure Bush will come up with something to fight the terrorists while simultaneously lining his friends' pockets...

Sorry to hear that Luke...

I know a lot of budget has shifted to the 'Homeland Defense' side, and that may be part of the cause.

Still, Apaches are no slouch...

But fear not, Lockheed scraped the P-7 project years ago (the P-3 replacement). They've since introduced the C-130J which shares a lot of the technology. Now that Navy is looking for a replacement for the P-3 again... enter a probable P-7 in disguise.

Point is, it's all timing. They might now want it now, but they will eventually.
