Do ALL Americans ......
Speak Spanish ???????
After my first ever trip to the US (3 days in Miami) I was shocked to learn that Spanish appears to be the first language of Americans.
This would, however, explain why y'all have such a problem with English though !!!!

Florida -- espeically the Miami area -- is majority Hispanic, James. In the US, most of the southern border states have large Spanish-speaking populations.
Spanish, in general, is huge in the US. Absolutely true. Miami is perhaps overwhelmingly so, but Spanish is everywhere here.
The only reason that any work gets done in California, by the way, is because of the Hispanic population. If it weren't for the hard-working Mexican/Hispanic population, California would have no service economy and would whither away to nothing and blow like dust in the wind.

It was said somewhat tongue-in-cheek, but I really wasn't prepared for quite how much spanish was spoken ...... there were people speaking Spanish to you before trying English in many places ..... it was weird .......
I had a great time there though, we prtty much stayed in South Beach the whole time (only 3 days). Did a load of shopping at the mall (clothes are much cheaper than in Tokyo) and generally wandered around and took in the atmosphere .....
