Default The Doc says: Books, not bombs!!!

Students participating in anti-war protests today chanted "Books, not bombs!!!" to convey their feelings on the upcoming war.

I completely agree with their sentiment. After all, when dropped from an altitude of 30,000 feet AGL, a book can do massive amounts of damage to persons and property upon impact. Used books can be as effective as new books, therefore cutting the overall operating cost. In addition, a post attack cleanup can reclaim thousands of books for use in future offensives. Since books are gravity guided, and require no electronic assistance, they can be dropped from virtually any aircraft, thus converting the otherwise slow and lumbering cargo transports into weapons of mass destruction. This would enlarge our offensive battle group by at least X10.

The Doc has only one suggestion: The books would need to be sealed shut to prevent a premature opening causing the potential fluttering effect, thus indeed slowing descent; resulting in less devastation.

Indeed they were, but aircraft technology was primitive and therefore rendered the carved tablets useless as projectile weapory. Their best use was in close combat.
