Do you know anyone mentioned in BLJ? Most everyone I've met that has read BLJ knows at least one of the characters. Six degrees of Kevin Bacon sort of thing.

1. My local bud Bryan once borrowed an air-mattress from BLJ author. 'Donald Miller'.

2. 'Mark the cussing pastor' is the pastor at my church. He's always in trouble for candid language.

3. 'Tony the beat poet' is the childhood friend of my ex-fianc

 

wow, no, none that I know of... though I think my brother's met Donald Miller.

Though in a similar vein, my brother was friends with Brian McLaren's daughter. She went to my high school.

 

'Brian McLaren' and 'Mark the cussing pastor' used to be buds... but now they seem to always be in a controversial public theological debate with one another. Last year Mark had to apologize after publicly suggesting that farmers should lock up their sheep when Brian is around. Of course he was only joking, but people don't expect a pastor to act that way. But I do. Always interesting.

 

There you go! Such a small world. I'd love it if more pastors acted that way. I'm a fan of Jim Wallis too.

McLaren's church is just a few miles down the road from here.

 

Just went out with an eharmony girl tonight. Was nice. Don't know that it'll work out to anything too serious, but she'd make a nice friend
