My bro and I usually keep in touch... rest of the family could all be dead and I'd never know. Apparently I'm supposed to be psychic and check in with them to find out when significant things are going to happen.

I suppose. It's a 2 way street, of course. I don't exactly call them every day - mainly because I have nothing to say. They get annual emails with my new address and that's about it.

Almost every family I know has dysfunction in it. I get worried when I meet a family that seems "normal." Usually means run for the hills!

We're fairly normal... we all drink (a lot), gamble (mainly at family holiday gatherings), most smoke, eat a lot, and bitch about everything. That's as normal as normal gets!

You mean like our family, where one of my sisters refuses to be in the same building as my brother

One day they will both grow up .... but since they are both 40+ already, I'm not holding my breath for that day

No one said that being over 40 implied any modicum of maturity, James.
