Many fast food chains add propylene glycol to keep the lettuce in their salads looking fresh and crisp. Propylene glycol contains acetone and chloroform, but don't worry-- the U.S. Food and Drug Administration declared propylene glycol " generally safe " for use as a food additive. What you don't know, generally can't hurt you ?
