FACT or CRAP?
I looked this one up, and sure enough, if you drop a tarantula on its back the exoskeleton will break/shatter. They can still jump and whatnot because the muscles protect the skeleton, but any surprise impact is fatal.
What is it?

Drop a tarantula, even from a very low height, and it will shatter and die.

FACT
Ferocious, but fragile.
I did note that Kevin had gently placed it on his chest

visual of one
ing around is creeping me out
funny I've only seen one in the natural as in NOT in a Tank or cage once , It was very slowly crossing the road up in the Los Gatos hills
At Joshua Tree Visitor Center they have photos of the " WILDLIFE " including them and request people be cautious of them on the road as to not hinder their existance
It might be 2.6 calories per minute, but not 26. 26 calories/minute is what a healthy 200 lb male would burn running a 5 minute mile (read: sprinting).
