In Huichol tradition, when a woman gives birth, the husband squats in the rafters of the house with ropes attached to his scrotum. As she goes into labor, the wife pulls on the ropes so that her husband shares in the painful experience of childbirth.

Fact--though I feel like it will be a technical part of the question--maybe the wife doesn't pull the ropes, maybe it is not ropes at all.

But I am still going fact.

This "tradition" has been made up by the Huichol who depict it on art to sell to gullible tourists.
