Comedy = Tragedy + Time

Seems like making fun of the Irish 170 years after the event falls into the realm of good possibilities.

An English TV network is producing a situation comedy about the Great Irish Famine of the 1800's which killed 1 million people in Ireland and forced another 1 million to flee the country.

FACT

The producers admitted, " It is an original, unusual, and difficult subject to do. " No joke!

The myth that all Scots are thrifty or miserly is like all myths, somewhat true. Even today, Scots give less money to charitable causes than do the English, Welsh, or Irish people.

Crap. Because they mean stereotype, not myth. Also, the concepts of "more" and "less" are problematic. Are we looking at per capita? Overall amounts? Is it measured annually? Some other way?

I know, I'm crusty.
