Joseph Stalin, the Soviet dictator and lunatic who put millions of his own people to death, was an avid movie buff.
He especially enjoyed Hollywood's cowboy movies in which John Wayne played the lead. Stalin's admiration of Wayne prompted him to award the actor the National Soviet Award for Valor in 1948.

Stalin had a love/hate relationship with Hollywood movies. The brutal and raw justice found in American cowboy movies, in which John Wayne played the lead, fascinated him, but he hated the anti-Communist Wayne.
Stalin's hatred for Wayne led him to hire assassins to kill Wayne. Fortunately, Stalin died n 1953, which terminated his plans to assassinate " the Duke. "

Beginning in 2016, a new law required dog owners living in the Barking area of London to register their dog's DNA to help authorities identify feces left on streets and in parks.
