For the middle class and the poor, beheading was the standard form of punishment. Only the wealthy and members of the royal family were allowed to choose their punishment. Their choices were: beheading, hanging, or death by poison.

CRAP
Capital punishment for serious crimes during the Tudor period in England was uncomplicated and predictable.
It was beheading for the wealthy, and hanging for everyone else.
